① Region-Specific MICE Development Project
In April, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization finalized the selection of four promising MICE events from cities across Gyeonggi-do through the 2025 Gyeonggi Region-Specific MICE Development Project. This program aims to identify conventions linked to region-specific assets and nurture them into iconic global MICE events of representing Gyeonggi-do.
The four selected events are as follows:

This initiative goes beyond simple financial support. It features a comprehensive process in which experts work alongside organizers throughout the entire preparation cycle, including pre-event consulting, on-site evaluation, and post-event consulting. In September, the second phase of the program—the on-site evaluation—was carried out. This stage provided a meaningful opportunity to jointly explore future development directions with each event organizer.

② Development of Gyeonggi-do’s Sustainable MICE Guidelines
Across the global MICE industry, the importance of ESG values, including environmental protection, community engagement, and transparent operations, continues to grow. In response, Gyeonggi MICE established the “Gyeonggi-do MICE ESG Strategy” this year and developed a set of core indicators that MICE stakeholders can practically implement on-site. Through the development of the Gyeonggi-do’s Sustainable MICE Guidelines, Gyeonggi-do is working to lay a foundation for systematically measuring, managing, and improving the sustainability performance of MICE events held in the region.🍃
ESG refers to Environment, Social, and Governance factors, which are key criteria for assessing the sustainability of industries. To apply these principles to the MICE sector, Gyeonggi-do structured the guidelines around the following three pillars.

These efforts implemented this year are laying an important foundation for Gyeonggi MICE to advance as a sustainable industry in the years ahead.
