On October 28 (Tue), the 2025 Gyeonggi-do District MICE Capability Enhancement Training—hosted by the Tourism Industry Division of Gyeonggi Provincial Government—took place at the Multipurpose Hall on the 3rd floor of Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang. The program brought together MICE representatives from cities and counties across the province, creating a meaningful platform for sharing strategies and best practices to foster the real, on-the-ground growth of Gyeonggi-do’s regional MICE industry. In particular, attendees experienced first-hand the future of MICE, where “space becomes content” through on-site training at the Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang—selected as a Unique Venue of Gyeonggi-do.

The morning focused on Gyeonggi-do’s strategies for fostering its MICE ecosystem, while the afternoon delved into emerging industry trends and regional case studies, offering participants a well-rounded learning experience that connected vision with execution.

Opening Ceremony Remarks
The program opened with a warm welcome from Team Leader Cho Seon-im of the International Tourism Team, Gyeonggi-do Tourism Industry Division. Following the introduction, Officer Jeong Jun-ho shared actionable insights through his presentation on MICE Build-Up Expertise for Local Governments and Budgetless Policy Execution Cases. His talk explored real-world strategies for advancing Gyeonggi-do’s MICE initiatives, sparking lively discussions on practical policy applications.

Next came a docent-guided tour of Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang’s exhibition “In to the Car.” Participants experienced the essence of an “immersive venue,” learning firsthand how an interactive space can drive meaningful MICE engagement. As they moved through the actual tour course, attendees discovered innovative ideas for venue programming and spatial design.

Lecture on MICE Trends and Operational Practices
The afternoon began with a special lecture by Professor Lee Hwa-bong of Hallym University of Graduate Studies. Under the theme “A New Growth Engine in Local Revitalization: Town MICE,” Professor Lee explored the latest trends and local-centered strategies, which offered ideas on how Gyeonggi-do could adapt these concepts into its own “Town MICE” model. The lecture concluded with a Q&A session, where participants exchanged thoughts on applying these insights to their actual projects.

Regional MICE Case Studies and Models
The final session featured a presentation by General Director Lee Sang-yeol of the Goyang International Expo Foundation on “Revitalizing Local Communities Through MICE.” He shared Goyang’s on-the-ground experiences, showcasing how MICE events can generate regional value and inspire collaboration among local stakeholders. The discussion encouraged participants to envision how similar approaches could be adapted across other Gyeonggi municipalities.
