The event, held at the Alfândega Congress Centre from November 9 to 12, gathered experts from around the world, including individuals related to international academic societies and associations, Convention & Visitors Bureaus, destination marketing organizations, and MICE companies. The congress was held under the theme of “Future Navigation Design: Innovation, Resilience and Cooperation of Global Business Events,” focusing on identifying new business directions and cooperative models in the rapidly changing MICE industry environment.

The 2025 ICCA Congress offered unique experiences through five dynamic tracks under the concept of “Purposeful Exploration and Bold Innovation.” Each track took place at an iconic location in Porto, where the event was held, and the venues themselves became part of the storytelling.

1. Impact & Sustainability – Porto Leixões Cruise Terminal
- A track discussing sustainable events and the future of tourism at the Porto Cruise Terminal on the Atlantic Coast
2. Future Leadership & Resilience – Ferreira Cellars
- A track on leadership and crisis-response capabilities required of future MICE leaders at a traditional venue where old port wine has been aged
3. Purposeful Business Models & Startups – Alfândega Congress Centre
- A track exploring new business ideas and startup innovation at the Alfândega Congress Centre, where historic buildings and modern startup culture coexist
4. Innovation & Technology – CEiiA Research Hub
- A track providing hands-on experience with future technologies in Portugal’s cutting-edge research center
5. The Creative Edge – World of Wine (WOW)
- A track focusing on how creativity, design, and storytelling can transform the event experience, held at a venue with panoramic view of Porto

Each track was hosted at a venue that provided diverse experiences, rather than a simple meeting facility or convention center. Participants selected the track that interested them and expanded their learning.

This congress provided an opportunity to gain new insights and explore diverse ideas, with Porto itself serving as an inspiring space.

Participant testimonials

The sessions held across various venues were particularly impressive. It felt as if the entire city had transformed into a single MICE event location. We observed that even with disadvantages like inconvenient accessibility or facility constraints, those venues could forge a powerful competitive edge by offering greater value through unique cultural experiences and creative utilization of space.

The 64th ICCA Congress became a meaningful opportunity for Gyeonggi-do to experience global MICE industry trends firsthand and expand its network with related international organizations.

These experiences and networks established through global events will serve as a foundation for Gyeonggi-do to develop the MICE industry more strategically and strengthen global cooperation in the future. We will continue towards the advancement of Gyeonggi MICE! Stay tuned with the GMICE Newsletter!✨🐭
